Being that Mother’s Day is Sunday, he prepares to spend another Mother's Day without his mom, which is what inspired the song. The song reflects on the ways gun violence and the criminal justice system have impacted his family. Grizzley dedicated the record to his mom, Latoya Perry, who is currently serving a life sentence for drug trafficking.
