The former home of the Detroit Red Wings is scheduled to be knocked down. According to Detroit Free Press, it's time to get the land ready for a new, large hotel that would reshape the downtown riverfront. This new hotel is required to have 30 floors and 300 rooms.
When the Arena gets knocked down I believe the city of Detroit will really feel it. I remember growing up coming here all the time for WWE live shows. I think I can speak on the behalf of everyone in the city that this arena holds a special place in our heart, not only the people who from here but famous people who had shows here as well.
Joe Louis Arena is one of Detroit's landmarks. When Visitors come to Detroit, Joe Louis Arena will be mentioned to visit. When the building get demolished, we should be looking forward to a new hotel right off the river. I'm happy for the new renovations of Detroit but this arena will never be forgotten.
