Detroit 36th District Court Traffic Ticket Amnesty Program Ends July 10th

Paying off old traffic tickets at a discounted rate is coming to an end for Detroit's 36th district court amnesty program. Ending July 10th, the amnesty program waives fees associated with traffic tickets and misdemeanor cases in the 36th district court. Warrants, penalty and late fees can be waived if cases are paid in full. "This is a time that we have to be flexible as a court," said Chief Judge William McConico. Approximately 5,000 people have already taken advantage of the program, he told the Detroit Free Press.

Fees will only be waived for civil infractions such as speeding, illegal turns or running a red light. You are still responsible to pay the original amount of the ticket, but all excess warrant fees and late fees are waived.
