Job Description

The Department of State is looking for honest, motivated, and hardworking individuals with a positive attitude and strong ethical standards to join our team!

The State Worker serves as a representative responsible for initial contact with insurance companies to verify validity of auto insurance documents submitted for the purpose of registering and renewing vehicles. Reviews potential fraudulent insurance documents submitted by customers. Conducts routine checks by telephone with insurance companies to verify and/or determine if insurance is fraudulent. Reviews, approves, and issues or denies such documents based on the Michigan Vehicle Code and Department procedures.  Refers information for further investigation when appropriate. 

This is a non-career temporary position, limited to working 719 hours per appointment.  

Non-career employees are not eligible for insurance benefits or paid time off, however, they may be able to participate in a deferred compensation plan 401k and/or 457.  These positions may lead to career growth opportunities within our Department.
