“Rain, rain, go away so we can have an opening day.”
Lots of Tigers fans were disappointed as the Detroit Tigers issued a statement saying today’s opening game would be postponed until tomorrow, The Tigers were set to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at 3:10p today and will now play tomorrow at 1:10 PM.
The Tigers also say that any tickets purchased for today’s game will still be good for any game throughout the 2018 season. However I must say being downtown prior to the game being canceled doesn’t look like it’s stopping very many people from continuing to celebrate opening day… tents are still up, hotdogs are still smoking, and people are swimming in a sea of navy blue and orange.
It’ll be interesting to see how many people actually show up tomorrow for the game and for the rescheduled festivities. I know a lot of people have already taken off work they may not have another sick day to use. LOL this is also the first time in history that an opening day game has been postponed at Commerica Park.
I look forward to tomorrow's redo and if you do too! Feel free to come and celebrate with us tomorrow during our LIVE broadcast at PV Lounge, Detroit Seafood Market and Truth Music Cafe! Party starts at 10a!
Here's the official statement from the team:
