Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan (BGCSM) recently announced its partnership with rapper and Detroit native Sean “Big Sean” Anderson and the Sean Anderson Foundation. The partnership was cultivated to further BGCSM’s effort to provide world-class work and recreational spaces for Detroit youth and community members. One major space being curated is the Sean Anderson Foundation Content & Production Studio.

“I’m excited to collaborate with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan to launch the Sean Anderson Foundation Content & Production Studio,” said Anderson. “We want to empower communities to explore careers and launch businesses in the entertainment industry.”

BGCSM announced their new co-working and incubator space as they expand to offer adult memberships geared toward local entrepreneurs and business professionals. This type of membership offering is the first of its kind across Clubs around the country. The announcement was made at the Friendship Club Reimagine Showcase. Other investors include Amerisure, United Way for Southeastern Michigan and social entrepreneur Phil Cooley of Ponyride and Slows BarBQ.

Anderson added, “My moonshot is to provide a space where the next Motown could be created in a neighborhood, just like the original.”

The showcase also launched the multi-year Reimagine effort and provided an opportunity for allies to see the space and interact with Club members. Over 200 business leaders and future donors gathered at the Dick & Sandy Dauch Campus to learn more about the Reimagine effort.

“Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan is committed to becoming both a youth and community development organization. In order to truly serve our youth effectively, we must help drive economic mobility opportunities for their families and community,” said Shawn H. Wilson, President & CEO of BGCSM. “We are grateful for all our supporters, including Amerisure, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, social entrepreneurs Sean Anderson and Phil Cooley who have recently given investments to help reimagine the Clubs in order to keep up with the demand in our communities. We aim to empower our members to become change agents for their life, Club, and communities.”

Pre-registration for adult memberships is available on the organization’s website and includes access to Ponyride’s co-working center, the Club’s regulation basketball court, fitness classes, and the Sean Anderson Foundation fully-equipped content and production studio.
