Michigan legislature is proposing to reward unemployed residents with a "return-to-work" cash incentive for residents currently receiving benefits. While jobs are available in Michigan, there are a lot of folks who would rather sit-back and collect benefits over going back to work.
Unemployed folks who find a job would get $1,000 as part of $12.7 billion in proposed COVID-19 relief spending that began advancing in the state Legislature on Wednesday. With over 800,000 unemployed Michigan residents receiving jobless benefits, the grant would cover up to 400,000 people.
