DETROIT – The Motor City Cruise, G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, will be hosting a local player tryout on September 15, 2021. Players who register will have the opportunity to compete for an invitation to Cruise training camp beginning in November.
The tryout will be held at the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center, located at690 Amsterdam St., Detroit, MI 48202, and will begin at 6:00 p.m. EST. Members of the Cruise and Pistons front office and coaching staff will be running operations while performing full evaluations of all participating players. This is a great opportunity for players in and around the Detroit area to come and showcase their abilities while participating in high-level drills and scrimmages.
Cruise President and General Manager, Rob Murphy, will also be in attendance evaluating and scouting all active participants. As a Detroit native, Murphy is excited about having the Pistons’ G League affiliate in his hometown and building a roster of players who will not only be great teammates but great members of the community as well. This is an exciting time for Detroit basketball as the Cruise and Pistons will play their games just minutes from each other, all while sharing the same practice facility giving the Cruise the unique opportunity to be around Pistons personnel daily.
All tryout participants must pre-register and pay the $200 non-refundable tryout fee. In accordance with the G League, all participants must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. The open tryout will be limited to the first 105 people who complete the required registration forms and submit the tryout fee. The registration deadline for the tryout is Friday, September 10, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. EST.
