R Kelly finally notched a win against the feds after suing Brooklynâs Metropolitan Detention Center. The singer has been in custody at the facility following his recent 30-year sentence for the federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges he was convicted of last year. R Kelly was then placed on suicide watch while in custody at the facility.
Kellyâs lawyers filed a lawsuit and temporary restraining order against the Brooklyn facility and its warden, Heriberto Tellez, alleging it has a âpolicy of punishing high profile inmates by placing them under the harsh conditions of suicide watch even though they are not suicidal.â The suit claimed that Kelly was ordered to wear a paper smock and wasnât allowed to use utensils to eat his meals, and that he was seeking âcompensatory damages for all emotional distress, humiliation, pain and suffering, and other harm in an amount to be determined at trial.â
According to newly filed court documents, Warden Heriberto H Tellez made the decision to remove Kelz following a âclinical assessment.â No further details on that assessment were provided.
