There are five places across the globe, referred to as blue zones (per bluezones.com), where an above average number of people live to be past 100 years of age. These locations include Ikaria, Greece, Sardinia, Italy, Okinawa, Japan, Loma Linda, California, and Nicoya, Costa Rica. Be it diet, environment, or below average stress levels, something about these places allow their residents to thrive. Opposingly, there are a handful of cities on Earth where people live shorter lives than most. 24/7 Tempo did a deep dive into the places with the shortest life spans across America (one in each city) and this is what they found!
Per the list, residents of Flint have the shortest life expectancy of any city in Michigan. The current life expectancy in Flint is 74.82 years compared to the currently average life expectancy across Michigan which is 77.48 years.

"To determine the cities in every state with the shortest life expectancy, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data on life expectancy in U.S. metropolitan areas from County Health Rankings & Roadmaps, a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Additional data on smoking rate, physical inactivity, and insufficient sleep also came from the 2023 CHR."
