WDIV.com is reporting that the shooting occured at Chene and Gratiot. The off duty officer was confronted by an armed robber in a store's parking lot. Afraid for his life, he drew his firearm and the two began shooting. The robber was killed in the exchange and the officer was shot twice. He is currently reported to be in critical condition. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family, and the DPD.
