22 Years Ago, September 13 1996, Tupac Shakur Died

Tupac Shakur was an amazing hip hop artist whose lyrics spoke about life, guns, gangs and regret. He was also an amazing actor apearing some classic movies and TV shows. I remember first seeing Pac at North Carolina A & T with Digital Underground. He rise to fame came quick but, at a cost. Some of the most memorable problems were his beef with Biggie & Pac after getting shot in New York to him filing a $10 million dollar lawsuit against the Oakland County Police Department. Tupac claimed he was beaten for jaywalking. And, do you remember when he was charged with felonious assault in Lansing? Tupac was accused of attempting to hit a rapper from the group M.A.D. with a baseball bat while at a concert at Michigan State University. Shakur and a group of others were charged with sexual assaulting a woman, which he denied the charges. Though the list goes on and on, Pac was and still is loved by fans around the world.

As I walked through the MGM Las Vegas last night, I thought about the events that lead up to his death. It was on September 7, 1996 that he went to the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson fight with Suge Knight here in Las Vegas, Nevada. After him and Suge left the fight, they ran into a ravel gang member in the MGM Grand lobby. He was later shot while in the car with Suge on the Las Vegas strip. Sadly 6 days after being shot four times, he was pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m. at University Medical Center from respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest.
