Rodney Kings Daughter Paying It Forward

As we come to the 27th year anniversary of the L.A. Riots, Rodney King daughter has launched a new new and special scholarship for black fathers. At age 7 Lora King, the daughter of Rodney King, lost her father from being brutally beaten by officers of the Los Angeles Police Department. The footage was recorded by a bystander in 1992, that became one of the biggest conservatory and movement in police brutality against people in the black communities and inspired people which lead to the infamous L.A. riot.

Lora King has been speaking with the Los Angeles Times to explain how the scholarship will help benefit black fathers by covering costs of family activities. The “I Am A King” scholarship falls under the Rodney King Foundation for Social Justice and Human Rights, she launched in 2016. After being awarded $3.8 million in damages, Lora told reporters that her father would helped foster her talents like paying for leadership camps and art programs. Lora King states “As long as I continue to follow my vision, he will always be represented.” With the "I Am a King" scholarship, King Is hoping that fathers can do the same with the children, strengthening their bonds with every memorable moment.
