Giannis Reflects On Kobe Bryant Challenging Him To Win MVP & An NBA Title

Giannis Antetokounmpo took on Kobe Bryant's challenge.

In 2017 when the Black Mamba retired from his NBA career, he was spending a lot of his time challenging the next generation of athletes via Twitter.

One of them was Giannis Antetokounmpo. The late-great Kobe Bryant challenged the Bucks player to win an NBA MVP award, which Giannis during the 2018-19 season and won it again in 2020.

Bryant then challenge Antetokounmpo to win a championship and as you know, Giannis and the Bucks did just that on Tuesday night in Game 6 of the 2021 NBA Finals against the Phoenix Suns.

During the press conference after Game 6, Giannis reflected on Kobe challenging him to win MVP and an NBA title. He said, "Kobe Bryant thinks I can do this... I had to do it. I had to work hard."
