Forecasters with the National Weather Service are expecting a snow-rain mix late Thursday into Friday morning, possibly leaving up to an inch of snow on the ground. Though it likely won't stick around long with high temperatures in the 40s, there's also the potential for wind gusts of up to 40 m.p.h.
“It’s hard to say at the moment, I wouldn’t give a number,’’ said Alex Manion of theNational Weather Service office in White Lake. “For northern metro, I would say moderate confidence of up to an inch, but there is potential to see more through Friday morning. It won’t miss Detroit entirely. Southern metro Detroit will have a chance to see more of a rain-snow mix Thursday, with a possible transition to snow late Thursday evening and Friday morning.’
In metro Detroit, the snow is expected to taper off Friday morning. It will be breezy and chilly on Detroit Tigers' Opening Day, with high temperatures in the mid 40s.
