On Tuesday afternoon, video shows the moment a man believed to have stolen a California Highway Patrol cruiser was taken to the hospital after leading CHP officers on a high-speed chase through the Lancaster area before jumping out of the moving vehicle.
The suspect leaped out of the car while it was moving eastbound on the 138 Freeway at around 70 mph.
Just after one of the suspects tires blew out due to hitting a spike strip, he began struggling to control the car. He then suddenly jumps out of the stolen police car, while the car continued finally stopping after crashing into a lamp post.
Video shows the suspect jumping out the car, seemingly trying to run, while still driving at high speeds. He immediately hits the ground and seemingly hits his head, before rolling to a stop. The suspect was given chest compressions by a police officer before being transported by EMS to a local hospital.
TMZ is now reporting that officials have confirmed the suspect passed away.
