Jesse Jackson was rushed to a Washington DC hospital on Monday (November 1) after falling and hitting his head at Howard University.
According to reports, the 80-year-old civil rights icon was at the HBCU campus to assist students who've been protesting the school's living conditions for nearly a month. Jackson was reportedly entering a building to attend a meeting with Howard president Wayne A.I. Frederick and students when he fell, his spokesperson Frank Watkins told reporters.
Jackson was taken to Howard University Hospital to undergo several tests, including a CT scan that came back normal. Watkins said that Jackson would be kept at the hospital overnight for observation.
"Family, he's resting comfortably and doing well," Santita Jackson, one of Jackson's daughters, tweeted Monday evening.
"Fighting 4 u is what he'll always do," she added. "His goal is 2 ensure the well-being of @HowardU students."
Jackson was hospitalized two times this year after undergoing gallbladder surgery earlier this year.
In August, Jackson and his wife were both hospitalized after contracting Covid-19. The reverend has Parkinson's Disease and required weeks of physical therapy after healing from the virus.
He's since picked back up on his schedule of protests and speaking events.
